Chairman's Introduction.
Welcome to our new High Ongar Parish Council website. The aim is to help promote the High Ongar Parish, which encompasses the areas of High Ongar Village, Nine Ashes, Paslow Common and Norton Heath.
On the following web pages, you will find out all about our village and the surrounding area together with its activities. Whether you are a local, an ex-resident, or an interested visitor please have a look around. Council meeting minutes, accounts and other information are to be found on the various pages.
The key to the success of this web site is to make an attractive and informative on-line service for both the residents and anyone else in the World who may be interested in our village.
High Ongar Parish Council is a non-political body, made up of ten unpaid Councillors, elected or co-opted, who serve for a minimum of 4 years. As well as being involved in local matters concerning the Parish and its residents, it is also consulted by the District Council on all matters related to the Parish. The Council meets every 6 weeks in the High Ongar Village Hall and dates of meetings will be found on the website and on Parish notice boards.
The Parish Council has powers to regulate open spaces, provide recreation facilities, manage footpaths and bring to the attention of other bodies matters important to the Parish. It sets its own Precept to fund Parish and Council expenditure, is consulted on all planning and highway matters in the Parish and returns its views as appropriate. Comments on planning applications forms one of the most important duties undertaken by the Council.
This website is a new venture for us and as well as providing public information, the Parish Council wishes to continue to improve the content of the site. We hope, therefore, that you will not only find the site interesting but also feel able to take part in its development by telling us your ideas for future content and updates.
Thank you, and we hope you log-on on regularly.
Richard Berry,
Chairman High Ongar Parish Council
