The High Ongar Village Hall is available for hire. Contact the Lettings Secretary Mrs J Trevelyan on 01277 363158 to book the Village Hall between 10:30am to 3:30pm weekdays only.

Health and Safety at Work Act 1974 - Safe Working Practices

Village Hall / Outside Premises
  1. Inform hirers of emergency procedures - explain where fire exits are.
  2. Do not leave trailing wires where you or others can trip over them.
  3. Do not leave bags or equipment on the floor where they can be a hazard to others.
  4. If there is a fire leave the building immediately do not stop to collect belongings.
  5. Do not leave valuables unattended.
  6. Report any faulty equipment or furniture to the lettings secretary immediately.
  7. Turn off all gas cookers when not in use.
  8. Report any accidents / incidents to the lettings secretary.
  9. If the caretaker or booking sectretary is not available to unlock the building ask the last student to wait with you while you do it.

Use of Electrical Appliances

In the interest of safety to hirers, the electricity supply to all the power points is protected by a circuit breaker.

It is by design sensitive to faults in electrical equipment.

The power sockets adjacent to the stage are double protected.

In the event of power failure caused by the breakers the following action must be taken:
  1. Disconnect any electrical appliance you have brought into the hall.
  2. Re-set the mains circuit breaker. The switch is located in the top cupboard in the foyer.
  3. If the appliances were plugged into the stage sockets, these are resent on the socket itself.
  4. Check your appliance for faults before re-connecting to the mains.
